Where It Started
OKO was born in the operating room and the ICU. Dr. Chris Sales, MD, an ophthalmologist, spent years protecting patients' eyes during surgery and intensive care — where even a few hours of exposure can cause serious corneal damage. The tools available were crude: surgical tape, ointments, and improvised solutions that were unreliable at best.
He saw the same problem outside the hospital. Millions of people wake up every morning with dry, irritated, burning eyes — and the products available to them weren't much better than what he was using in the OR.
So he built something better. OKO takes the protective principles used in critical care and puts them into a premium hydrogel eye shield designed for overnight use at home.
